  1. Laydown an tablecloth on the dinner table..
  2. In the center of the service plate or placemat, place a soup bowl.
  3. Place the dinner plate to the top left of the service plate
  4. Lay a napkin to the left of the service plate.
  5. On the left of the service plate, place the fork on the outside, and the dinner fork on the inside. You can put the forks on the napkin, or for spacious settings, directly on the tablecloth between the napkin and the service plate
  6. On the right of the service plate, place the knife closest to the service plate (blade facing in towards the service plate) and then the soup spoon.
  7. Place a butter knife horizontally, blade facing inwards on top of the dinner plate with the handle pointing to the right.
  8. Directly above the service plate, place a dessert spoon (a teaspoon) with the handle pointing to the right.
  9. Directly above the knife, place a water glass. To the right of the water glass and about three-fourths of an inch downward, place the wine glass.
  10. Keep salt and pepper shakers for each guest, keep them above the dessert spoon or place them near the center of the table.
